Children are naturally active learners. At SNEAKERS EDUCATIONAL CHILDCARE, INC we encourage and foster active learning and fun through structured activities and games on our playground and reinforced with projects in the classroom. We provide age appropriate developmental activities in a safe, caring and nurturing environment with our professional staff, so parents can feel secure and comfortable about leaving their child while at work.
What is active learning? Sneakers Educational Childcare, Inc. believes that children need to be involved in what they are learning. By doing this the children can become engaged in the skill being taught both physically and mentally. An example would be teaching the children about the basic colors. We would take the children outside with an assortment of playground balls. Today we are learning the color green and we will only kick, throw, roll, carry, and play with the green balls. The other balls of different colors would remain where they are. As we progress through the colors the children would also have input in how they want to interact with the balls. Do they want to use the cars, scooters, or trucks?
At Sneakers Our K-3 and K-4 program introduce and enrich the children with diverse and multicultural activities and with the anticipation of entering Kindergarten. As part of the community we want all children to succeed in school. This is done through many activities and games that are based around the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL). The skill they learn in our preschool and daycare setting are age appropriate with the goal of having the children develop a positive self image of “I can” when approaching a new concept or challenge. By offering a variety of fun learning activities Sneakers is preparing the children for entry into kindergarten.
Sneakers Educational Childcare, Inc. works on maintaining a home like environment. The additional training that each teachers receives during the year keeps them informed of the changes and new trends in teaching, working and playing with children.
