The Early Bird Learning Center is a Child Development Laboratory within Liberty High School. It provides an academically challenging curriculum with flexibility to meet the needs of individual students. The facilitators work to instill a feeling of self-worth and self-confidence in each student while also requiring that he or she recognize the needs of others.
The atmosphere is relaxed and informal with a balance between freedom and discipline.
The program is geared to the mastery of language arts and mathematical skills and encourages individual creative expression. The utilized curriculum is Common-Core aligned and designed to offer students rich, varied experiences with language and math.
Language arts occur within the daily activities of the classroom as children build writing skills, listening skills, phonemic awareness, and oral language. Facilitators use a thematic approach to learning which gives students an understanding of the relationship between disciplines.
Scientific and artistic exploration as well as physical activity are important parts of the program. Through outdoor play, science experiments/projects, and field trips, the children discover the wonders of the world around them. Students visit the wider community on field trips and for learning projects.
The SMART interactive whiteboard, computers and tablets are used to enhance the teaching and learning of many subjects.
Small class size; individual class sizes will never exceed one facilitator for every ten students.

The benefits of children receiving a high-quality early childhood education are irrefutable. Studies show that children who attend high-quality early childhood education programs have more advanced skills in areas such as academics, following directions, problem-solving, and joining in activities, all of which allow teachers to spend more time working directly with children and less time on classroom management. |
