ABOUT ME
I am a mother of two ages, 3 years and 9 months. After having our second child my husband and I realized that for me to work didn’t really make sense, since 100% of my income went to child care. My husband and I discussed options that we had as a family. Our biggest concern was taking them out of their current provider without replacing it with any other social atmosphere, which I believe is important in a child’s development. We didn’t want to stunt their development so after consulting with family and friends we came to the conclusion that this was the best option for us. We found that opening up a home daycare would benefit us in so many ways. They would still get their social stimulation and interaction with others, while we would save just a little more each month on our budget.
My Philosophy
I hope that you like what we have to offer from our family to your family and most importantly for you children. I am dedicated to providing the same level of safety, security, love, development and happiness to your children and family that I would to my own children and family. I am driven to provide a different style of care, where keeping the parents involved and working together to insure that everybody’s happiness remains unhindered while their children live, laugh, learn and grow.

ILLNESS
Children will be required to stay home if child has 1 or more of the following;
Temperature of 101 degrees or greater (unless child is cutting teeth)
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Any and all potentially contagious disorders, such as head lice.
If your child shall become ill at daycare I will call for you and work with you on making arrangements for your child to be picked up.
Parents are required to notify me of the following:
1) Child was sick during the evening/night
2) Problems that may cause child to act different such as illness, death in family, or conflicts with sibling, etc.
3) Childs medications have been altered or something has been added. (Unless the reason for the child’s’ medication can cause disruption, behavioral issues, may put others in danger, or I have to administer them I do not need to know specifics as to why your child is on medication. I respect your families privacy.)
Emergency
In the event of an emergency you will be notified promptly, if necessary rescue squad will be called.
In the rare instance that my children or I fall ill you will be contacted as soon as possible. If you could please specify a time in the blanks below that would acceptable in your household for me to do so both in the evening and morning. Evening_________________ and morning__________________
However every effort will be made to keep daycare opened. (I have a few backups in my family that may be able to substitute for me, yet is not guaranteed depending on their own personal schedules.)
Depending on my children’s or my symptoms I will make the call to you to let you know the situation at such time you may make a judgment call on if you would like to bring your children to daycare or not. Since we are in the comfort of our own home I can keep my children secluded from the rest. I know how important work is and how last minute things can cause problems.
DISCIPLINE STYLE AND POLICIES
In order for me to provide a safe, constructive environment, we must establish certain rules or guidelines. I will have such guidelines or rules posted in the common area. I am open to and encourage and suggestions by you. Being a parent I understand that you may do things a certain way at home and I would love to work together on such things. Please remember I do have to follow my personal guidelines as well in order for things to run smoothly. Having two children myself that will be attending, there will be no favoritism or leniency toward any of the children in my care.
Behaviors
Aggressive, disruptive or destructive behavior for children 18 months and older will result in a “time out.” In time out they will be isolated with the intention of being in there 1 minute per year of their age. Permitting they are calm and stay seated. Otherwise they will remain in time out until he or she can rejoin the group with out disruption and/or apologies have been made if necessary.
Redirecting and Consistency
I believe redirecting and consistency delivers more success when trying to stop a particular behavior. However in the rare occurrence that such an unacceptable behavior persists and does not improve we will discuss the problem and devise a plan of action together in an attempt to solve the issue. If the behavior does not improve within 2 weeks to 30 days we will then get together again to discuss future options, which may result in termination of care. Please understand I run a business, I have to provide a safe and healthy atmosphere for all the children.
COMMUNICATION
Communication – the definition for communication is 1. The act of transmitting. 2. The exchange of information or opinions.
Through my own experience with multiple facilities and in-home providers, I have found that communication between providers/staff and the parents are highly important. Open communication allows for things to run smoothly both at daycare and at home. It is the key to a long-lasting relationship provider and her childcare families. I firmly believe that communication between you the parents and myself the provider is a must. I wanted to make this known from the beginning of providing care for our most valuable possessions.
Please do not hesitate to discuss anything that affects the well-being of our children with me, (I am a mom too!)
I will divulge any information in regards to your child on a daily basis, and I would expect the same in return. If you have any questions and/or concerns my door is always open before, after and during business hours. However please keep in mind as that I am running a business and in charge of multiple kids. There are certain times throughout business hours that are better than others. If you have something you wish to address let me know and I can either tell you a time that would work best for the particular day or we can set up a particular time.
PAID HOLIDAYS AND VACATION
The daycare will be closed for the following holidays…
New Year’s Day
Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving
Day after Thanksgiving
Christmas Eve
Christmas Day
If these fall on a weekend the prior Friday or following Monday will be observed. There are such instances where I might inform you that I would be opened for one of the above holidays. In such cases you will be expected to sign-up and I will charge a fee of $15 for the day. This is because I do not get reimbursed for food on holidays that are observed by that government. Parent's days off, sick days or bad weather do not count as vacation days, and are expected to be paid. Unless otherwise notified in writing by me.
Vacation
Since I am self-employed I don’t receive such benefits that most employees take for granted, such as health insurance, workman’s compensation, retirement/pension plan, sick days, annual raises or bonuses. I do require a two-week paid vacation each year. I ask that parents try to arrange their family vacation during this time or make other care arrangements. I will do my best to notify you in writing 2 months prior to such time being taken.
Birthdays/Special Days
One thing I encountered when my children were in daycare was the wish to have a couple days unpaid to do special things with or for my children. So I thought it would be great to provide you with the options to take one optional holiday per child, and a second one per family. These may be taken anytime throughout the year. A two month notice in writing will be required for such time to be taken and unpaid. This allows me to arrange my budget so that my bills can be paid.
SPECIAL OUTINGS/ACTIVITIES
Outings
A few times through out the year I might like to take the children on a group outing; (i.e. to the Zoo, a particular park, etc.) Such things would only be possible if a few parents were willing to come along on the adventure to help with transportation and so forth. If such an event rises I will discuss it with all parents and see if anyone can help to make it possible. Then a date will be set and I will need all parents to agree and sign and/or date a permission slip. Car seats will need to be provided as well for each child that requires one according to weight or age requirements.
Activities
Weather permitting there might be certain activities that I would like to do with the child such as; slip ‘n’ slide, wading pool, sprinklers, going to neighborhood park, go on walk in neighborhood, etc. Such things would not require any transportation and would be on premises or within a few blocks. Depending on the activity I might ask for certain things to be provided, (i.e. a swimsuit.) Another permission slip will need to be signed and/or dated if I it is an activity where we will be leaving the premises.
PARENTS PROVIDE
Parents will need to provide the following as needed;
-Diapers, Pull Ups, extra underwear
-Formula depending on brand/cost
-Spare outfits
-Bottles
-Personal hygiene items i.e. brush/comb if you would like me to help with that (I have two girls, can you tell!)
-Any and all medications that the child need to take
I encourage children not to bring any toys to Daycare. Children are allowed to bring a blanket or nap toy, but will only if it is used for that purpose only. The toy will be put up before and after naptime. Please discard of all other toys in the car. There are plenty of age and gender appropriate toys that they can share.
If we have a Show and Tell day I will let you know in advance. |

Admission conditions |
|
|
|
I have no admission conditions except that I would appreciate that those I work with are honest, responsible, accountable, and most importantly can have open communication and work with me to provide the best for their children.
* Also we have a family dog, a black lab/retriever mix. He is an outside dog for the most part. There is a fenced in kennel area for him. The kennel is where he goes to the bathroom 90% of the time. He will be in there if we are outside. |
