This Family Day Care is a unique, loving and nurturing learning environment for all children. Teddy Bear’s mission is to use different techniques including Montessori training methods to prepare children with skills needed to score in the advance to expert level on standardized test.
My philosophy toward discipline is one in which discipline is not an obstacle, but rather a positive reinforcement to help promote education. It’s the responsibility of the child care provider to provide an environment in which children can acquire a level of achievement which will reflect who they are as active members of our society. Discipline allows us as providers to create this environment and evade obstacles that are an obstruction to the education process. To provide the best learning environment for our children it’s important to keep kids on task and focused which minimizes disruption. By having a through lesson such as Montessori, children will be on task and will have as little disruption as possible. Maintaining clear order in the environment without being too authoritarian is critical to promoting the highest level of cognitive development.
Motivation is another key aspect of discipline. This can sometime be one of the most difficult challenges as a provider. By making learning personal and fun to children, motivation becomes automatic, and less of a challenge. When children follow and respect the rules, you are likely to have a learning environment in which the children are self motivated. In summary, my philosophy of discipline is one which creates an atmosphere where children can learn with little distractions, and where rules are seen as guidelines toward a better education, and not as barriers.
I plan to prepare all children for schooling to ensure a successful educational future. Each child (including infants) will receive an age appropriate Montessori customized educational plan with goals and objectives within the first two weeks of enrollment in addition to the monthly lesson plan.
I am mother of 3 including one 18 year old daughter and a grandmother. I have more than 20 years of experience caring for children. I am an active participate in the community and Montgomery County Public Schools and well known in both by principals, educators, advocates and neighbors.
