Description

Building Blocks Home Daycare was created to meet the needs of Kenosha County parents who want an interacitve, hands-on environment without the expense of large, daycare facilities. Children of all ages are given the opportunity to participate in a wide range of experiences from which to grow.

Finding child care that fits your family, its values, and is the type of environment you want your child to spend so much of their time in, is hard to do. I know. I am a mother of a 22 month old little girl. We went through 3 nannies in 7 months, we visited many centers and decided it wasn't for our family, and interviewed several home providers. What we discovered is that we liked certain things about each provider or their care, but not any one provider encompassed everything we thought to be quality child care for our young daughter.

I am an Early Childhood Education student, trained in CPR, First Aid and AED for adults, children and infants, Shaken Baby Syndrome, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, and am in the process of being licensed with the State of Wisconsin. I have taken all the required classes for licensing including Infant and Toddler Development, Fundamentals of Family Child Care, and more. As an inspiring teacher, I am able to incorporate all my learnings into my classroom. I have plenty of references available and many happy parents eager to tell you about my work with their child!

Why is Building Blocks Home Daycare different?

1. Large, spacious, clean home with a security system, child proofing throughout, and a large fenced in yard. Building Blocks Home Daycare is fully insured.
2. A structured day for your child based on their developmental stage. We alternate between quiet type play and energy type play. We spend time exploring and learning in free time, and learning how to socialize in group activities.
3. Menus planned in advance that meet or exceed the USDA guidelines for toddler nutrition. A great deal of time and energy is spent in encouraging the children to make healthy choices, being offered a variety of foods to try, and children are encouraged to sit while eating, participate in open discussions with the teacher and the other children, and table manners are modeled and encouraged.
4. Teacher practices a positive guidance approach using phrases such as, "Walk, please." instead of "Don't run." The classroom has guidelines instead of rules, the children are encouraged to work on self help skills by being given responsibilities that are age-appropriate such as helping to carry the diaper changing supplies over, or wiping down the table before and after meals, etc...
5. American Sign Language is taught, practiced and modeled on a daily basis. Signing Time is part of our daily routine and is the only TV offered to children. Children are encouraged to participate but not forced to watch.
6. Daily Reports for parents to know exactly what their child has eaten and at what times, slept, diaper changes, and what activities their child participated in throughout the day. Observations are made and noted on the daily reports and gives parents insight into something their child did that day, such as sitting at the big boy table for snack for the first time and what the childs reaction was.
7. Weekly pictures taken and provided electronically to parents. Now you can see the different activities your child participates in and see how much fun we have here.
8. Much, much, more.
Admission conditions
We do have a dog and cats on premises; though I can limit their access to the daycare room. Families with allergies should consider this when making determination.
