Angel Camp is a licensed (experienced license/director certified), in-home childcare/preschool, fully certified in child/infant cpr, first aid, universal precautions, and medications administration. Angel Camp is located in Aurora, Colorado at the intersection of Iliff and Tower. My background is in early childhood education (Metropolitan State University of Denver) with having over 30 years of experience utilizing numerous teaching models and programs, teaching kindergarten in a private school, nannying, as well as raising three children of my own. My continuing education consists of taking fifteen annual clock hours (minimally) through the State of Colorado to keep my education current with children’s growth and development. Personally, I also include taking numerous annual conferences, classes, and seminars to continue my knowledge and understanding with keeping on top of the needs of children today with current times.
Angel Camp’s program includes preschool, arts and crafts, seasonal activities, various projects, birthday/holiday celebrations, developmental math, reading and writing concepts, music exploration, circle/group time (weather, calendar, and map), beginning Spanish and sign language (ASL), outdoor play, science, story time (puppets, acting, felt stories, audio stories), games (indoor and outdoor), dramatic play time, centers, and unstructured free play time with many learning manipulatives. All the activities that we do are a great balance of both indoor and outdoor experiences. Angel Camp’s program supports positive social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development to the age of twelve.
Angel Camp’s preschool program includes a combination of curriculums. These include Mother Goose Times, Funsteps, My Big World, Carol’s Curriculum, and a mixture of kindergarten readiness materials from my own personal teaching materials. Our monthly learning rubrics include but are not limited to letters, numbers, colors, shapes, beginning Spanish and Sign Language (ASL) vocabulary, a social-emotional concept, holidays, and a monthly concept theme (approaches to learning i.e.; health, community, animals, weather, family, etc.). We also have a monthly spirit week at the end of the month that incorporates participation from home that consists of bringing in materials from home to correspond with what we are learning here at school for the month.
I provide all nutritional morning snacks, lunches, and afternoon snacks that are supported by the USDA food requirements and recognized by the State of Colorado Food Program, in which I participate with the organization, Kids Nutrition. We do family style serving and eating of snacks and meals and the children are encouraged to participate in food preparation and serving if they are able and wanting to.
The hours that Angel Camp operates are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Thursday. Before and after school care/school breaks/summer care is also provided for siblings of current students and past Angel Camp students that are enrolled in school. |
