I believe the purpose of early childhood education is to enable children to develop positive self-concepts and basic understandings and skills that will help them apply their efforts to intellectual tasks. Play is a very important part of early childhood education and play-based activities foster the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of each child. Children learn best in an environment that supports their affective domain; I believe that a good environment should be well organized and should support children’s learning.
Qualities that I will bring to the classroom as a teacher of young children are a positive attitude, an ability to always listen to children’s thoughts and ideas and to speak respectfully to children at their aye level, a warm, friendly nurturing attitude and the ability to define rules and limits clearly.
