I am 49 years young and have yet to quit playing, coloring, painting, singing, dancing and loving what I do. I have been a single divorced mom since 2001. I am a homeowner and we have lived in our home since 1993. I have two daughters, one age 17 who has already graduated high school, and one who is 21. Both became SRNA's (state registered cna's) in June of 2009 and work full time. My youngest lives at home and works at The Kidz Club which is Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care program providing skilled nursing services in a daycare setting for medically fragile children. My oldest daughter lives out of the home and also works as a SRNA in a nursing home, she is my substitute meeting all state certified requirements. I have been working with children for over 22 years. I will have been certified for a total of 18 years this June 2010. Before I opened up my home for daycare I worked at a residential treatment center for adolescents. I began providing child care in 1992 in the state of California from 7-92 through 8-93, when we moved to Kentucky. I have been certified in the State of Kentucky, since 10-1993 certification # C0812. I am required to have nine hours of child care training and be certified in child and infant cpr and first aid annually. I have training certificates along with several letters of recognition from parents, the State of California, and the University of Kentucky. Child Care certification is re-newed every 2 years. My current certification is in effective for October 23rd 2009 through October 23rd 2011.
I am certified for six non-related children. My idea enrollment is to include only having 1 infant enrolled at a time. Because of the unpredictable nature of this business, people who thought they were returning to work and decided not to, people relocate, change in working schedules, jobs and so on, or people interview and decide they don't want to start their child and call at the last minute to cancel or don't show at all, I do maintain a waiting list and interview periodically when I don't have openings.
We have an American Eskimo Spitz named Sadie (all white snow dog) and a Texas Heeler (Australian Shepherd, Australian Cattle Dog mix ) named Layla. Both are small to medium sized (just below knee high of an adult person) and both have known no other home than a daycare home. Although both are great with kids they are kept separated from the children as not to distract them (all they want to do is play with the doggies.) both are not allowed in the two main rooms used most for child care at anytime, not even during non daycare hours. They are very well trained and know not to enter the kitchen during meals times or other rooms even if the doggie gates are open.
For your childs sake, interview as many providers as you can. Check out what is being offered in your area and in your price category. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Then, make an educated decision, one that is right for your family. This is the only way you can have the peace of mind you must have, to be productive at your job. You don't need child care issues adding to your stress. This decision is very important and if you are not comfortable with someone, including myself, by all means, look around until you are. You can get referrals for Certified Family Child Care Homes from the Child Care Council of Kentucky @ 254-0876.
Thank you for your interest in my child care. I hope to hear from you soon. I am very flexible in most aspects of my child care business, if something doesn't look like it will work for you feel free to ask if an exception can be made. Feel free to contact me by email if you have any questions or I can be of help to you in finding the child care thats right for you and your child.
Thank- you

~ Requesting References & Interveiw ~
Once you have contacted me with an interest in my child care home I will email you my reference's and address. After receiving and reviewing this information if you would like to set up an interview you may call 859-271-6718 or email (please include phone # if emailing). Interviews are best scheduled before 12:00 or after 3:00 Tuesday - Thursday. Weekend or evening appointments aren't out of the question but availability depends on my own families needs and personal schedule.
~ Enrollment Process ~
Once you have made the decision to enroll your child(ren) in my child care home you will be asked for 1 (one) week non-refundable payment to secure your child(rens) spot. This payment will be applied to the contracted date of enrollment for the first week of care. This is to protect myself from no shows, last minute cancellations, a delay in enrollment date and turning other prospects away.
You will be given an enrollment package which must be completed and turned in no later than the first day of care. A copy of your Kentucky child's immunizations must be turned in no later than 30 days of your child enrollment date, This is Kentucky State Law and is strictly enforced in the child care regulations |
