New Family Child Care Center with licensed early childhood educator with 12 years teaching experience - Expected Grand Opening July 2014!
Mission Statement
Garrison Family Care will provide high quality education and care in a home setting. Play will be used to provide opportunities to explore language, literature, math, science, social skills, and emotional awareness. Each child will be encouraged to reach towards their full potential based on individual abilities.
Owner & Lead Teacher: Alison Barnes is an early childhood education professional and a mother. She is licensed as a teacher with the Massachusetts Department of Education for PK-2nd with and without special needs and Department of Early Education and Care for Family Child Care Provider, Director I, Direction II, and Infant/Toddler/Preschool Lead Teacher. She studied psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi, concentrating her study on how learning occurs for children on the autism spectrum. Her graduate level studies were completed at Salem State University, in the area of early childhood education, grades pre-kindergarten through second. Alison’s work experience includes early intervention (ages 0-36 months), child care (age 2 – pre-kindergarten), and public school special education (grades K-5).
Curriculum at Garrison Family Care is designed for children ages 24 months - 6 years of age. Methods are a mixture of philosophies including public school practices, Creative Curriculum, Reggio Emelia, and regulations for developmentally appropriate set by the DEEC. Accommodations and modifications for age and ability differences are made as needed on an individual basis.
The development and needs of an infant are far removed from that of a pre-schooler. Additionally, decisions of infant care vary greatly and are deeply personal. I wish to maintain care as closely to the parents personal style as possible. For those reasons, curriculum and progress reports will be developed and implemented on an individual basis for infants and toddlers. Enrollment of children younger than 24 months will be decided on a case by case basis. |
