We provide a home environment that includes educational opportunities learning through play and additionally storytime, math and science in the kitchen, sand and water play, block play, music and movement, puppet play and storytelling, crafts and art,outdoor play in our 1100 square foot playground,discovery (nature),free play and kids yoga.My husband and I have operated this child care program in our home since our twins were born 28 years ago.We raised four children in this house and are dog lovers as well and have gates fences doors and lots of supervision to control any interaction between children and our animals. Greg works for UPS and sings with the Kansas City Symphony Chorus and here in our program he runs the music and movement aspect. I was a 4-h foods teacher when our children were young and have found teaching small children to help in the kitchen is a wonderful way to learn early math and science in action. We provide healthy nutritious meals and gardening experience in the backyard during the summer months. We are not a preschool but we do activities that helped prepare for that next step after daycare. I am a psychology major at KU about to complete my bachelors degree and begin my masters program and find that early education has the unique opportunity of helping to develop early social and emotional regulation skills that will serve the children well once they enter school. We find that enrolling four or five children total makes for better interaction and care and an overall closer experience for those early years in care. I am licensed to care for up to 10 children at varying ages but choose to limit our enrollment to four or five children for better ratio of care. Admission conditions
We are dog lovers but are aware of the need for supervision of any and all interactions between small children and animals of any kind. We have gates and doors at every entry of the house and yard and the spacious backyard has five sectioned off areas fro separate play for the dogs away from the children on the playground. We also have two garden spaces one for vegetables and fruit trees and the other for flowers and birds. Look forward to meeting you soon!
